A multi-faceted creative expressionist, Keith Linwood Stover has refined his artistry for four decades. A novelist, musician, lyricist and philosopher, Stover has explored the horizons of various art-forms, including novels, short stories, song lyrics, essays, newspaper journalism, rock music and photography, challenging himself in each medium by pushing the boundaries of his craft.
Stover began his creative odyssey by exploring rhyme and metered verse—couplets, quatrain and iambic pentameter. After writing song lyrics for local rock bands, he published his first song “Poor God,” with ASCAP in 1970, at age 15. It was then that he began a series of stand-alone song lyrics called Words Without Voices, (published under his pen name James Thomas Fielding) which today spans over 6,000 titles.
A freelance journalist and critic, Stover, 55, has published pieces on music criticism, sports, and politics throughout New England for three decades. He studied English Literature and creative writing at the University of Maine in the mid-1980’s before venturing briefly into newspaper journalism, publishing a variety of freelance fiction and nonfiction pieces in New England newspapers, including a series of editorials analyzing the 2008 American Presidential race, featured in the Bangor Daily News, the Ellsworth American, and the Portsmouth Herald/Seacoast Online in Portsmouth, NH. He was invited to submit his portfolio for consideration as contributing speechwriter for the Barack Obama campaign.
Stover completed his first literary novel, Whistler’s Father, in 2005. Pig Nation, his second novel, is a cross-genre political thriller, science fiction and urban fantasy, completed in April of 2010.
The author’s current work-in-progress is called Harvin – A Novel, a literary fiction story about an eccentric young artist.
